Boldy I Approach

Workshops and EventsPosted by Anna Mon, April 18, 2016 22:36:31

I’m finally getting round to sorting through some of the dance videos I have (yay), and today I want to share with you about ‘Boldly approaching the throne’. This was a dance that we explored whilst away on the dance retreat back in March and was also used at the latest Moving Rainbows session at the beginning of April.

The main aim was to consider how we approach the throne, how we can be in fellowship with another, supporting one another and have a time just dancing together.

I find it incredible to see how God speaks movements to individuals that mould together into a dance to demonstrate his love, compassion and steadfastness.

At the retreat we did a lot of work in groups that helped to emphasise different bits of the verses, and use layers of movements such as canon, freezes and unison. We wanted to demonstrate the connection in movement (having contact with another person during the movement as much as possible), as a reflection of how we can keep connected with God, but recognise that sometimes even if we loose connection, it can be found again.

In Moving Rainbows we encouraged each child to think about the words of the song, to stand, lie, balance and turn in the first verse, before coming together in groups in the second and use flags in the 3rd.

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. 1 John 1.7

The bit that I feel is really important in this dance is the chorus, moving forward together, welcoming one another before the throne and being free in it. Check out Hannah and Janes face as they spin round at the end!

Do you boldly approach the throne?

Why not take a breath, walk forward and smile, and choose someone to do it with!
